THE People Behind ZenAbby and Ryan McLeay were born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska and love to support their roots and community, while also continuing to research and introduce new products and methods to the Midwest area.
After many years in the corporate coffee world, Abby went on a mission to create a stronger Community in Coffee with a hard focus on sustainability and Ryan, using his business and construction background, teamed up to build a Zen space with a Green focus in mind. Little did they know how the Business-and their family would grow over the past 6 years in business! It has been a wild ride but filled with so much gratitude for the Zen community and the extensive support! Abby and Ryan have travelled across the country to complete their SCA training and certifications and continue to educate themselves, as well as others in the coffee and business industry. In 2020, they developed a coffee and pastry program for the store and went into building a fully sustainable and versatile kitchen within the space. They continue to lead and develop Zen's training program which helps shops all around the city of Omaha, while also overseeing all bakery operations and community events. |
ABOUT OUR COFFEEOur coffee is roasted by Dapper & Wise. The roastery originated from Insomnia Coffee Company-located in various locations of the Pacific Northwest. Our roasters take great care in selecting quality sourced beans while working with farmers to perfect each bean so that each cup is equally as exquisite as the last!
We choose to do Coffee differently by partnering with and serving the best roasted coffee in the most ethical way. By sharing these same values, love for community and interest towards a balanced, sustainable vision in our coffee industry, Zen has successfully been able to bring delicious, responsibly sourced coffee to the Midwest; while offering our community elaborate coffee education, opportunities to meet it's producers and an ability to learn in a non pretentious and welcoming specialty coffee atmosphere. |
