Job Title: Barista
FLSA Status: Hourly Non-Exempt
Reports to: Shift Supervisor, Manager

Job Summary:
A Zen Coffee Company Barista is responsible for embodying our mission of creating an environment where our customers feel they are one of our own. The Barista does this by creating a culture of excellent customer service, preparing and serving quality food and beverages and remaining teachable while working together with fellow employees.
Barista Job Duties:

• Embody company mission, vision, values
• Prepare beverages and food according to company standards
• Communicates with staff through appropriate Slack Channels
• Follow appropriate policies and procedures for register and cash handling
• Report all safety related concerns to Owners
• Complete task list assignments during shift
• Fulfill open, mid, and closing shift procedures according to cafe standards
• Strive for team work and good communication while interacting with co-workers
• Pursue relationships with customers and co-workers while maintaining a high level of professionalism
• Proficiency in coffee grinder and espresso machine operations
• Proficiency in palate development and dialing in espresso
• Proficiency in milk steaming and latte art
• Ability to speak knowledgeably about Zen Coffee Company and Dapper & Wise coffees
• Stay up to date with company classes and events
• Answer customer questions/complaints and direct to Shift Supervisor or Owner, whether in person or over the phone
• Attend All Staff Meetings as scheduled
• Help in maintaining a clean and functional shop

Job Title: Baker

Job Summary:
A Zen Coffee Company (Baker, Bakery Assistant, Pastry Apprentice) is responsible for embodying our mission of creating an environment where our customers feel they are one of our own. The Baker does this by creating a culture of excellent quality and attention in preparing food products and remaining teachable while working together with fellow employees.
Baker Job Duties:
    •    Embody company mission, vision, values
    •    Prepare food according to company standards
    •    Communicates with staff through appropriate Slack Channels
    •    Follow appropriate policies and procedures for cleaning and safety 
    •    Report all safety related concerns to Owners
    •    Complete task list assignments during shift
    •    Strive for team work and good communication while interacting with co-workers
    •    Pursue relationships with customers and co-workers while maintaining a high level of professionalism
    •    Proficiency in preparing pastries and accurately following bulk recipes
    •    Proficiency in palate development and ensuring product consistency 
    •    Ability to speak knowledgeably about food products and potential allergens 
    •    Proficiency with inventory tracking and management.
    •    Attend All Staff Meetings as scheduled
    •    Help in maintaining a clean and functional shop; including prevention of allergen cross contamination.
